Description of Procedure: Relax the cab shell’s front wall and properly tighten the 3/8-16 hex head bolts that secure the cab shell to the cab floor

Units Affected: Any TICO 2017 series cab

Recommended Tools: 

  • Torque wrench capable of achieving 60 in-lbs. with 9/16” socket

  • Combination wrench, 9/16”

  • 3/8” drill bit and drill

  • Blue Loctite® 242® or equivalent

Planned Labor: 30 minutes


Instructions:

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply the parking brake. and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.


  1. Loosen and remove ALL of the (35) bolts that hold the cab shell to the cab floor.


  1. Working from the front and center of the cab, align the clamp, cushion, shell, seal, and floor (see Figure #1) and insert the 3/8’ bolts into the holes of the clamp, cushion, shell, seal, and floor, and continue for all remaining holes. 

    Note: Figure #1 is a 3D cross-section of the parts stacked up for the front flange. The side and rear flanges are similar to the front.


  1. Examine the front (4) center bolts (see Figure #2). If these bolts are not perpendicular to the cab floor, use the 3/8” drill bit and drill/reem through the mounting hole until these bolts can be inserted without any restrictions.


  1. On the right-hand side of the cab, second bolt from the front, apply the thread locker to the threads of the bolt as shown in Figure #3.


  1. On the rear left-hand side of the cab, add a thread locker to the threads of the (2) bolts indicated in Figure #4.


  1. Torque ALL (35) 3/8” bolts to 60 in-lbs per the pattern in Figure #5.


  1. Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.


  1. Return vehicle to service.
