Description of Procedure: TO HAVE THE CENTER PIN OF TRAILER BOX (TRAILER ABS POWER) TO BE SWITCHED BY KEY (IGNITION). THESE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDE THE PROCEDURES TO REVISE THE TRAILER ABS POWER TO IGNITION.

Parts Required: TICO HARNESS P/N: 621033

Planned Labor: 1 hour


NOTE: This procedure illustrates how to re-work the side mount trailer box from battery operation to allow the ABS to operate using ignition. This procedure applies to vehicles with the new cab design and the chassis PDC side mounted on the wheel chassis.

Instructions:

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply a parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.


  2. Disconnect the main battery supply to the chassis PDC at the batteries.


  1. Remove the lower cab step.


  1. Remove the cover from the chassis PDC.

  • 4A PiCTURE OF CHASSIS PDC WITH COVER REMOVED FOR REFERENCE.


  1. Use harness 621033. Install the Ring Terminal to the output side of the ignition solenoid. Loosely install nut on the solenoid.


  1. Route terminal end of harness towards fuse box along with current wire bundle. Remove the fuse box from the mount by pressing the lock.


  1. This shows a back view of the fuse block. Remove blue wire locking tabs.


  1. Remove green cavity plugs from the positions show.


  1. Insert the terminal end of the harness into this cavity.

  2. Remove circuit “Trailer ABS”(blue) from cavity C2.


  1. Insert circuit “Trailer ABS”(blue) into cavity B2.

  2. Insert green cavity plugs in empty cavity positions shown.


  1. Re-install wire locks.


  1. Replace fuse holder into mount. 30 amp Fuse is installed in the new position.


  1. Re-work is complete. Route and tie up wires to avoid chafing. Replace the cover on the fuse holder. Tighten nut at the solenoid.


  1. Connect the chassis PDC battery supply cable at the batteries.


  1. Re-install chassis PDC cover.


  1. Re-install the lower cab step.


  1. Verify correct operation.


  1. Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.


  1. Return vehicle to service.
