TICO Document #: SFN-20231013B (formerly TES-222)
Complication: The handle on the cab’s right-hand side slider window is becoming loose during truck operation since there no locking mechanism preventing the exterior handle retaining knobs from loosening.
Description of Procedure: Add blue Loctite® 243 or equivalent to the threads of the exterior handle retaining knobs
Units Affected: New cab design only
Parts Required: None
Planned Labor: 15 minutes
Instructions:
Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.
Locate the exterior handle retaining knobs on the right-hand side slider window. See Figure #1.

Important: Perform this procedure only on one exterior handle retaining knob at a time to prevent the window handle itself from falling. See Figure #2.
Loosen the exterior handle retaining knob by turning it counter-clockwise. See Figure #3.

Once the exterior handle retaining knob is removed, add two drops of Loctite® 243 or equivalent to the threads. See Figures #4 & #5.

WARNING: Do not use any tools that might cause excess pressure and crack the window.
Re-install the exterior handle retaining knob by turning it clockwise. See Figure #6. It should be hand-tightened only.
Repeat the procedure on the remaining exterior handle retaining knob. See Figure #7.

Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.
Return vehicle to service.
