TICO Document #: SFN-20231013A (formerly TES-221)

Complication: Cab baffle plate does not have the necessary cutouts to clear the silicone hose

Description of Procedure: Replace the cab baffle plate with the updated design

Units Affected: Various

Parts Required: KIT – CAB BAFFLE REPLACEMENT 970032 (QTY) 1

Planned Labor: 30 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply the parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.

  2. The cab baffle plate is located underneath the cab entry door and in front of the cab step grating. In order to easily access the mounting hardware, tilt the cab.

  1. Once the cab is properly tilted, remove the ¼” hardware securing the baffle plate to the cab floor. Set the mounting hardware aside and remove the baffle plate.

  2. Using the previously removed ¼” hardware, install the new baffle plate. Orient the new baffle plate in the same direction as the old design.

  1. Figure #3 shows the new cutouts in the baffle plate that will allow the silicone hose to pass without interfering.

  1. Check the silicone hose for any damage caused by rubbing or chafing. Figure #4 shows the interference between the silicone hose and baffle plate when the cab is in the landed position.

  2. If the silicone hose is damaged, remove the mounting hardware for all three step gratings.

  3. Remove all three gratings from the frame and boom in order to remove and re-route the silicone hose.

  1. Remove the existing hose clamps on either end of the hose and any p-clamps used for routing. Set clamps and hardware aside.

  1. Cut and discard any cable ties used for routing. New cable ties are supplied for reinstallation.

  2. Reinstall the new hose and re-route in a similar manner to the old hose. Torque hose clamps to 35 in-lbs. Ensure the hose passes through the new cutout in the baffle plate.

Figure #6 shows one end of the hose coming from the engine; Figure #8 displays the location of the opposite end of the hose near the boom pin.

  1. Inspect the newly installed hose for any leaks at the connection points. If a leak is observed, turn off the truck and correct the leak(s). See Figure #9 & Figure #10.

  1. Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.

  1. Return vehicle to service.
