TICO Document #: SFN-20231005A (TES-293) PROCEDURE TO RELOCATE AND LIMIT SEAT RECLINE ON SEATS INC

Description of Procedure: Seats Inc. seat at full recline can cause damage to back glass and to the seat itself. In this procedure, the Location of the seat will be changed, and recline will be restricted.

Units Affected: ALL UNITS WITH SEATS INC. DRIVER SEATS.

Parts Required: 125223 - PLATE, RECLINE LIMITER, SEATS INC. (qty) 1

Planned Labor: 45 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Park vehicle on a flat surface, apply parking brake and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “LOCK-OUT” TAG OUT” policy. You should employ it during this procedure. See Figure 1.

    • FOR EV UNITS: Truck does not need to be decommissioned to complete this procedure as it does not affect any high voltage system.

Start of Seat Relocation Procedure.

  1. Inside the cab, locate the floor mat cut-out for the driver seat, see Figure 2A. Mark the floor mat in the front of the existing cut-out by 1 inch, as shown in Figure 2B.

  1. Using the mark from the previous step as a guide, cut the floor mat. It should be 1 inch forward and as wide as the pre-existing cut-out. See Figure 3.

  1. Using a 9/16” socket and wrench, remove all 3/8” hardware holding the seat down. See Figure 4.

  2. Save hardware; it will be reused later.

  1. Slide the seat frontwards so the mounting holes, shown in Figure 5, are lined up with the floor mounting holes

  1. Using the saved 3/8” hardware, secure the seat to floor. Torque to 38 ft-lbs. See Figure 6A and 6B. (end of seat relocation procedures).

Start of Limit Seat Recline Procedure:

  1. On the left-hand side of the seat, locate the recline knob. See Figure 7A & 7B

  1. Using a 1” deep socket, remove the bolt holding the knob in place. See Figure 8A. Bolt must be removed using a hand tool, no impact tools.

  2. Save the knob, bolt and washers. They will be reused later. See figure 8B

  1. Push the seat up to it’s up-right position, see Figure 9

  1. Install P/N: 125223 - PLATE, RECLINE LIMITER, SEATS INC. onto the seat and ensure it’s installed in the correct position. See Figure 10 for correct installation position and Figure 11 for incorrect position.

See Figure 11 for incorrect positions:

  1. Reinstall knob using the saved hardware from the previous step. Ensure that the washers are in the correct order as seen in Figure 12.

  1. The knob must lay flush against 125223 as seen in Figure 13. Tighten the saved recline hardware, with a hand tool, down enough to still allow reclining knob to function. (End of recline limiter procedure)
