Deutsch DT-RT1 Terminal Removal Tool or equivalent

  1. Remove panel on the front of the cab.

  1. Locate DGM.

The Volvo DGM comes with three 6 cavity Deusch receptacles.

The connector labeled “DIAG” mates to the connector on the TICO harness labeled “DGM DIAG”.

We are also using one of the connectors labeled “AUX BUS” (either one), and it mates to the connector on the TICO harness labeled “DGM AUX”.

Although the connectors on the TICO harness are labeled, they are the same Deutsch DT06-6S connector, and it is possible to swap them.

If these connectors are swapped, power is connected to the J1939 circuit, and damage to the harnesses can result.

  1. To ensure that the connectors cannot be swapped, we will change the DGM Diagnostic connectors to 4 cavity Deutsch DT connectors. Remove the connector on the DGM labeled “DIAG” and replace with the DT04-4P connector and W4P wedge. Follow the wiring chart below:

  1. Now replace the connector on the TICO harness labeled “DGM DIAG” and replace with the DT06-4S connector and W4S wedge. Follow the wiring chart below:

  1. Now mate connectors DIAG and DGM DIAG.

  1. Reinstall panel on front of cab.

  1. Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.

  1. Return vehicle to service.
