Description of Procedure: Installation of strobe light and four additional work lights on cab bar. Two work lights to be located at top corners of cab bar. Remaining two work lights to be located at bottom corners of cab bar.
Units Affected: Units with serial numbers 3998 – 4059
Parts Required: Field kit 720935 (lower cab bar flood lights) 720935 (QTY 1)
Field kit (upper cab bar flood lights) 720989 (QTY 1)
Field kit (strobe light) 720990 (QTY 1)
Planned Labor: 45 minutes
Instructions:
Park vehicle on flat surface, apply parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.
On curb side post of cab bar mark hole location as shown.
Drill 3/8 hole through outer face of cab bar.
Route one of the 620529 harnesses down the outer post of the cab bar on the roadside. Harness should be oriented so that the two connectors, tower and shroud, are located at the top of cab bar.
Connect 620529 harnesses to existing cab bar harness.
Repeat steps for curbside of cab bar.
Attach 91216, work light, to cab bar at locations shown using hardware supplied with light.
Connect 620529 harness to work lights newly installed.
Attach 91216 work light to 50185 extension bar as shown above. Use hardware supplied with light.
On roadside at top of cab bar, attach work light and extension bar to cab bar using 3/8-16 bolt, washer, and nut. Torque to 35” ft.*lbs.
Repeat steps for curbside top of cab bar.
Connect work light to existing cab bar harness, above left. If lower flood light harness, 620529, is installed, connect work light to 620529 at the available connector, shown above right.
Repeat steps for curbside of cab bar.
Locate strobe light mounting pedestal at top left-hand side of cab bar. Pedestal is oriented towards front of unit, as shown.
Strobe light mounting pedestal is pre-drilled with a 6” diameter and a 4 5/8” diameter bolt circle for strobe light mounting.
Assembly strobe per manufacturer’s specifications. Strobe light, 91800, is assembled and wired for installation from TICO.
Attach strobe light to mounting pedestal, as shown, using hardware included with light.
If alternate strobe light is purchased, follow manufacturers specifications for wiring of flasher circuit on strobe light.
Install two way weather pack connector at 9” from base of strobe light. Use table shown left for connector specifications and circuit routing.
Locate strobe light connection on cab bar harness, this may be located within top post of cab bar.
Install 40539 grommet into hole for strobe light connection pass through into cab bar.
Connect strobe light to cab bar harness. Route any excess length of harness back inside of top post on cab bar.
Activate work light switch inside cab. All work lights should illuminate. If any work light fails to illuminate then check wiring for discontinuities and repeat step.
Activate strobe light switch inside of cab; for off-road units, the strobe light will activate with ignition switch. Strobe light should illuminate in appropriate flashing pattern. If light fails to illuminate, check wiring for discontinuities and repeat step.
Secure all harnesses using tie straps, and ensure no chafing of harnesses on surrounding components.
Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.
Return vehicle to service.
