TICO Document #: SFN -20220422A (formerly TES -224)
Description of Procedure: This procedure is to properly set the maximum vehicle speed and prevent the end-user from modifying this parameter after shipment from TICO. It will detail the initial programming of the Engine Control Module (ECM) for Cummins engines using the Cummins Insite program.
Units Affected: All on-road tractors that are built on or after 8/1/19, starting with s/n: 6685.
Parts Required: N/A
Planned Labor: N/A
Instructions:
Confirm the laptop computer being used is connected TICO system via a wireless connection.
We need to get the engine parameter settings; this data is now contained in the Epicor MRP system.
Look for the Epicor MES Icon on your computer desktop. The icon should look like this. See Figure #1.
Double-click the Epicor MES Icon to launch the program.
The Log On dialog box will appear. See Figure #2.
Enter you User name and Password. Click the “OK” button to continue.
The user name/password information is extremely critical and should NOT be shared by multiple users. If additional logins are required, authorization must be obtained from the Production Manager.
The following screen will appear. See Figure #3.
In the function ribbon on the top of the screen, click on the “Production” tab as indicated by the arrow.
The following screen will appear. See Figure #4.
Click on the button labeled “Engine Parameters,” as indicated by the arrow.

12. The following screen will appear. See Figure #5.
13. Enter the truck serial number (for example: 6685) in the white box and click on the refresh icon as shown in the upper left.
14. The dialog box will now show the customer and OEM (i.e. TICO) engine parameters that are needed to be set for the proper operation for the truck. This data needs to be loaded to the ECM via Cummins Insite to EVERY we produce.
15. For an On-Road style truck, these trucks will have the Cummins B6.7 or B6.7N series engines. Special parameters MUST be set.

16. Disconnect the computer from the TICO wireless connection. DO NOT close any of the Epicor dialog boxes.
17. Connect the laptop computer with the appropriate cable to the ECM and enter into the Cummins Insite program.
18. Download the appropriate engine template to the ECM.
19. Once the ECM has the correct engine template loaded. You will need to set the user parameters. This data is already being shown in the Epicor dialog box. See Figure #6.
Once in the Cummins Insite program, click on the Features & Parameter tab. See Figure #7:
Scroll down the list to set the following parameters, see Figure #8:
Maximum Accelerator Vehicle Speed 33 mph
Maximum Vehicle Speed 33 mph
Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Speed Limiter Enable
Maximum Vehicle Speed 33 mph (Under Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Speed Limiter section)
If the sales order specifies a vehicle speed the is less than the mandated 33mph, then the lower speed, example 24 MPH, is only entered in the Maximum Vehicle Speed, under the road Speed Governor section, see Figure #9:
Maximum Accelerator Vehicle Speed 33 mph
Maximum Vehicle Speed 24 mph (Under Road Speed Governor section)
Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Speed Limiter Enable
Maximum Vehicle Speed 33 mph (Under Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Speed Limiter section)
23. The table indicates the correct parameters for each situation. The speed setting shown in the Epicor Parameter Sheet, See Figure #6, is the Maximum Vehicle Speed (Under Road Speed Governor section). Always, set the Maximum Vehicle Speed (Under Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Speed Limiter section) to 33 MPH. See Figure #10:
The data shown above is an example purposes only.
The engine parameter data is specific to the options installed on the truck and the customer requests. Always, use the data provided by the Epicor Engine Parameters for programming the ECM.
If you should have any questions about the engine parameter data, please contact your supervisor or appropriate engineering personnel.
