  1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply a parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a β€œLock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.

  2. Warning: To avoid electrical shock to personnel and/or damaging equipment, remove battery power on the truck. Remove the battery box cover (see Figure 2) and disconnect the negative side of the battery (see Figure 3).

  1. Remove the (14) screws from left-hand front cab access panel (see Figure 4). Retain the screws and washers for reinstalling of the access panel. Replace damaged screws with P/N 80219.

The Geotab device will be installed in the upper right-hand corner of the cab front access opening above the cab Power Distribution Centers (PDC’s) (see Figure 5 and 6).

  1. Open the mounting kit, P/N 920510 (see Figure 7), remove one side of the protective cover on the double-sided tape, and the tape to the bottom side of the plastic Geotab mounting bracket.

  2. Install the Geotab mounting bracket to the flat area above the PDC, as shown in Figure 8.

    • Remove the 4 screws holding the β€œC006” connector the bottom edge of the dash panel, freeing the connector from the dash panel. Save hardware for future use (see Figure 9).

  3. Connect β€œC002” to a connector on harness P/N 621274 (see Figure 9).

  1. Install the flanged connector (reference Figure 10) into the hole in the dash from the previously removed connector β€œC002”. Attach with the saved hardware to secure the connector to the dash assembly.

  1. Connect the Geotab connector on harness 621274 to the Geotab (P/N see the β€œparts” section of the article for various models).

  2. Once the Geotab is connected to the harness, use the supplied zip-tie to secure the harness connector to the Geotab itself.

  1. Secure the Geotab to the mounting bracket. You will hear a click.

  1. Reconnect the ground cable on the batteries.

  2. Turn the engine on and verify the power LED light on the Geotab’s function display end is lit (see Figure 11).

If no lights are present, check all connections. When the power light is active (see Figure 11), installation is complete.

  1. Reinstall the left-hand front cab access panel, torquing the 14-panel mounting screws to 15-20 lbs-in.

  1. Remove β€œLock Out, Tag Out” plaque.

  1. Return vehicle to service.
