TICO Document #: SFN-20231014A (formerly TES-232)

Description of Procedure: Install a cab rain guard kit to a TICO 2017 series cab

Units Affected: Any TICO 2017 series cab with the selected option of the left-hand and right-hand side cab rain guard

Reason: The left-hand and right-hand side rain guard is used to reduce the amount of water run-off from the cab roof by redirecting the run-off to either the front or back of the cab.

Parts Required: KIT, RAIN GUTTER J-CHANNEL WITH ADHESIVE, RH & LH 970007 (QTY) 1

Planned Labor: 30 minutes

Precautions:

  • DO NOT….Let the adhesive surface of the tape be exposed for long periods of time.

  • DO NOT….Touch or contaminate the exposed adhesive surface of the tape.

Instructions:

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply a parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.

  2. Apply the rain guards to a clean, dry TICO cab with a clean lint-free cloth. It is important that the TICO cab does not have any condensation on it. See Detail #1

If necessary, warm only the area of the rain guard application with a heat gun to obtain the recommended surface application temperature between 60°F to 110°F. Do not apply the rain guard in temperatures below 60°F.

  1. Remove the RED covering protecting the adhesive surface. Keep all contaminants (fingers, gloves, cloths, etc.) off the adhesive surface of the tape while applying it.

  1. Starting on the left-hand side of the cab, using P/N: 123145-1, align the front edge of the Rain Guard to the front radius of the 45° section of the cab (see Detail #2) and position the rain guard parallel to the upper radius, then slowly lower to the surface of the cab. See Detail #3.

  1. With firm pressure, or with the use of a roller, apply pressure from one end to the other end. See Detail #4

  1. Repeat the same procedure for the Right Hand side using P/N: 123146-1.

  1. Double-check the edges to verify good tape adhesion, and re-apply pressure if necessary to get a good bond. See Detail #5.

  1. Remove the “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.

  1. Return the vehicle to service.
