Complication: There is water intrusion in the air cleaner housing due to a path into the air cleaner via the air cleaner cover.

Description of Procedure: Replace the current air cleaner cover with and upgraded watertight cover

Units Affected: All units with a Donaldson Powercore PDC10 series air filter shipped between 10/13/18 to 10/13/19

Parts Required: COVER, WATERTIGHT, AIR FILTER, donaldson, PCD10 621162

Planned Labor: 5 minutes


This upgraded watertight cover can be used with any Tico tractor that uses the Donaldson Powercore PDC10 series air filter. See Figures #7 and #8.

Instructions:

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply a parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.


  2. Locate the air cleaner. It is mounted between the exhaust system and the right–hand side fender. See Figure #1.


  1. Open the air cleaner cover and inspect the air filter(s). See Figure #2.


  1. Inspect the primary and secondary air filters (See Figures #3 and #4) and, based on what you observe, follow the instructions in the table below.

Primary air filter and secondary air filter are WET

CLEAN: Re-install and close the air cleaner cover. Proceed to step 5.

  • Replace the primary and secondary air filters.

  • Check the engine oil for any water migration into the engine. This can be checked by draining the oil from the oil pan. (See Figure #5.) If water is found, contact the TICO service group for further instructions.

  • Replace any oil drained from the pan with the appropriate engine oil per your engine type. Confirm oil level by checking the engine oil dipstick located on the left-hand side of the truck.

DIRTY: Replace the air cleaner(s) per your company’s preventative maintenance procedures. Install new air filter(s) and close the air cleaner cover. Proceed to step 5.


  1. Once the pre-cleaner, if so equipped, and air filter element themselves are re-inserted, install the new upgraded air cleaner filter cover p/n: 621162, on the air filter housing. Use the housing service clips to secure it to the air cleaner housing. See Figure #6.

    The previous air cleaner cover can be discarded.


  1. Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.


  1. Return vehicle to service.
