TICO Document #: SFN-20231009G (formerly TES-212)
Complaint: On a mid-mount magnetic sweeper, there is enough tolerance stack-up to cause the airline fitting on the top of the airbag is unacceptably close to the driveline for safe operation when the fitting is located on the rear side of the airbag.
Description of Procedure: Rotate the magnet assembly so that the airline fitting is located on the forward side of the airbag. This will give adequate clearance from the driveline
Parts Required: None
Planned Labor: 30 mins
Instructions:
Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply a parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.
Locate the mid-mount magnetic sweeper assembly located between the transmission and the rear axle.
Inspect the position of the airline elbow. If the elbow is toward the front of the truck, no repair is required, See Figure 1.
If the elbow is towards the rear of the truck, go to Step 4.
Remove the hardware holding the magnet assembly to the airbag bracket. See Figure 2.
Rotate the magnet assembly 180 degrees and re-install the mounting hardware.
Be sure to route the airline so it does not interfere with the driveline as shown in Figure 1 above.
Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.
Return vehicle to service.
