Description of Procedure: Add CPAC telematics to Volvo Penta EV units

Units Affected: N/A

Parts Required: 

ANTENNA, GPS, USB PORT, MAGNETIC BASE, IPX4, 78” LG 2. 911049 (QTY 1) 

ANTENNA, T-BAR, GSA 4G LTE, IP67, 120”LG 3. 911046 (QTY 1)

CABLE, COAXIAL, FAKRA TO FAKRA, 12” LG 4. 911048 (QTY 1)

CABLE, COAXIAL, SMA TO FAKRA, 40” LG 911047 (QTY 1)

Planned Labor: 25 min


Instructions:

  1. Park vehicle on flat surface, apply parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.


  2. Find the instrument display mounted to dash.


  1. Remove the M6 hardware highlighted in red


  1. Disconnect the signal connector from the back of the display

  2. Remove the display from the dash


  1. Find the SIM card compartment on the back of the display


  1. Install the 4G SIM card as shown

    NOTE: This should be a standard size SIM card. A SIM card adapter should be used if you have a nano or micro SIM card.

    8A The SIM card should click into place.


  1. Install the Fakra to Fakra adapter cable (P/N 911048) shown in red


  1. Connect cable 911048 to the Fakra to SMA adapter cable (P/N 911047)

  1. Connect cable 911047 to the T-bar antenna (P/N 911046)


  1. Connect the GPS puck antenna to the USB port on the back of the display


  1. Reconnect the signal connector to the back of the display


  1. Mount the screen using the previously removed M6 hardware • Route antennas and secure to the dash as shown.


  1. Key on the unit

  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen

  3. Select the settings button circled in yellow


  1. Select “Connectivity”


  1. Select “Custom setup”


  1. Select “Cellular network settings”


  1. Select “Access Point Names”


  1. Click on the APN name that is already selected (button on right side of screen is yellow)


  1. Select “APN protocol”


  1. Select “IPv4”


  1. Select the three dots in top right corner of the screen


  1. Select “Save”


  1. Go back to the “Connectivity” screen

  2. Select “Automatic”

  3. Ensure that cellular and internet are “Connected.”

  4. The icons in the top right of the display should look like below:


  1. Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.


  1. Return vehicle to service.
