TICO Document #: SFN-20240109F (formerly TES 152)
Description of Procedure: Provide an alternate method of releasing the rear door when in the closed position.
Units Affected: All units use pneumatic cylinders for door actuation.
Parts Required: Field kit 721018
Not included in the kit, but required:
3/8” split convolute tubing (8 feet required)
Screw, wood, #10 x 1/2” long (QTY 2)
Washer, # 10 (QTY 2)
Washer, ¼ 85089 (QTY 2)
Planned Labor: 30 minutes
Instructions:
Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply the parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.
Release/vent all air in the system. This can be done by manually releasing valves at the bottom of the air tank. If split system is utilized, exhaust air at manifold by shifting door valve slowly from open to close until door fails to close again.
Prepare 920072, valve, as shown above.
Mark cab in location shown below.
Drill 9/16” diameter hole through fiberglass cab in location previously marked.
Mount 920072 valve through fiberglass cab as shown above.
Ensure 920064, decal, is centered behind switch and all lettering can be clearly read.
Roll back floor mat to left of door.
Drill two 7/8” diameter holes through cab floor at locations shown left.
Cut floor mat for bulkhead fitting pass-through.
Insert two 40829 bulkhead fittings into holes previously drilled.
Attach 40855, 90° fitting, to each bulkhead fitting and orient it towards the left of the truck.
Note: Prevent metal filings from falling on engine components by covering components with a weld blanket.
Route 11003 tubing, 25” long, from forward most fitting to the inlet port on 920072 valve. Wrap air line in split convolute tubing.
Route 11003 tubing, 27” long, from rearmost bulkhead fitting to the pressure out port of 920072 valve. Wrap air line in split convolute tubing.
Secure tubing to wall of cab using 420311, “P” clamps, and #10 x 1/2” long wood screws.
Raise cab to highest position and ensure cab latch is locked into place
Locate door actuation cylinder at rear of cab.
Disconnect air line running to the farthest right port, base, of the cylinder.
Remove tie straps securing tubing in place and allow to hang free.
Secure bulkhead fitting in place, installed previously.
Attach 40855, 90° fitting, to each bulkhead fitting and orient towards front of tractor.
Route 1/4” line previously removed from cylinder port to forward most bulkhead fitting. Trim excess tubing and convolute wrap.
Route 1/4” line, 31 1/2” long, from rearmost bulkhead fitting to cylinder port previously disconnected. Wrap air line in split convolute tubing.
Secure all lines in place using tie straps. Ensure no chafing of tubing on components.
Lower cab.
Start unit and build air pressure until the gauge reads 125 psi.
Shift door valve on dash panel into the “close” position. Check circuit for air leaks.
Outside of the cab, ask the assistant to press the knob on door valve, 920072, and manually open door. Door should open easily and remain open.
Pull knob on 920072 valves to reset system.
Discard excess tubing, 11003.
Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.
Return vehicle to service.
