TICO Document #: SFN-20240105B (formerly TES 179)

Description of Procedure: This procedure is for replacing a Radiator initially sourced from JB Radiator and installing a radiator sourced from Titan X.

Units Affected: Cummins QSB III, QSB Tier IVi, QSB Tier IV Final, ISB and B6.7

Parts Required: FIELD KIT, RADIATOR UPFIT FROM JB RADIATOR TO TITAN X. 970005 (QTY 1)

Planned Labor: 4 hours

Instructions:

  1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface, apply a parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.

  2. The removal and replacement of the cooling system should be performed by trained personnel. The replacement Titan X radiator, see Figure #1, will directly replace the existing JB radiator.

  3. This up-fit will reuse the following items already on the current radiator: recirculation baffle, mounting isolators, fan, CAC tubes and radiator coolant hoses.

  4. A new fan shroud and one transmission coolant hose rerouting is required.

  1. One of the differences is the routing of one of the transmission coolant hoses. For the existing routing, see Figures #2, 3 & 4.

  1. The Titan X radiator uses an internal water-to-oil cooler in place of the existing air-to-oil cooler. The coolant lines are now routed to either side of the radiator along the engine to the transmission. See Figures #4 and #5.

  2. The shorter of the two transmission coolant lines (approximately 86” long) will have to be replaced. The additional, longer coolant line (approximately 93” long) is provided in the up-fit kit.

  1. Additional p-clips are provided to assist in the supporting of the coolant lines along the driver side of the engine & transmission.

  1. The Titan X radiator will require a new fan shroud due to the radiator’s bracing system. It installs exactly the same as the existing shroud. The shroud is included in the up-fit kit.

  1. Refill the cooling system with the specified coolant and designated amount.

  1. Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.

  1. Return vehicle to service.
