Description of Procedure: Air flow from heater blower fan to the front windshield is restricted by the windshield defroster plenum. A design change has been made to the defroster duct. Addition of two (2) swivel-type air diffusers increased the air flow to the front windshield. This increased air flow improves the defogging of the front windshield.
Units Affected: January 2009- September 2013
Parts Required: Plenum Rework Kit, consisting of the following 91694 (QTY 1)
Planned Labor: 1 hour
Instructions:
Park vehicle on flat surface, apply parking brake, and chock wheels. If your company utilizes a “Lock Out, Tag Out” policy, you should employ it during this procedure.
Using a 2 ½” diameter hole saw locate and drill two holes in the RH side plenum. The hole location are shown on drawing 90845 (copy attached).
Assemble the flange ring onto the swivel using the plastic nut
Apply a small amount of silicone sealer between flange and duct the to form a seal . Insert swivel into duct, and install screws. Direct air flow toward windshield area.
Remove “Lock Out, Tag Out” plaque.
Return vehicle to service.
